1) "It is not the same as a cigarette"
It is not, and it will not be. At least not straight away. In the first few days the difference is very noticeable; after that body and mind gradually adjust.
What helps: do not judge after two or three attempts. Give it at least a week.
2) "The taste does not suit me"
After cigarettes the taste in your mouth is in a completely different place. Burning paper is a defining part of a cigarette's flavour – and that is exactly what heated tobacco removes, along with the combustion products. What tastes odd today will feel normal in a few days.
What helps: drink more water and stay with the new device. Mixing cigarettes and IQOS is the surest route back to the pack. And try a different TEREA variant: beginners usually get on better with medium intensities than with the strongest ones.
3) "The device is playing up"
It is a new device, everything works differently, and many an apparent fault turns out to be trivial.
Quick sequence: check the charge → is the stick seated properly? → restart the device → only then contact support. More in our Warranty claims section.
4) "Under stress I go back to the real thing"
This happens often, and it is not a character flaw – it is an old habit asserting itself. In a crisis the familiar option simply feels easier.
What helps: decide in advance what you will do in that moment instead. A plan beats any amount of willpower.
5) "Everyone gives me different advice"
Exactly, and you end up merely confused. Stick to one or two sources and calmly work out what suits you. Our pages answer almost every question there is – from how to use it to how to look after it.
One simple rule at the end
Do not give up. Anyone who gets through a week to ten days without a cigarette starts to enjoy the device. We have seen it confirmed a thousand times, and at heart it is purely a matter of habit. And keep this in mind: switching is not quitting, but for your body it is a very big step.
